All these pictures show oak
framed buildings, with the overhanging roofs leaving an 8’x8’ (2.4m x 2.4m)
room below.

Our pictures show Gazebos
fitted with 42mm thick timber wall planking stained on the outside with a
soft green Cuprinol stain, leaving the woodgrain clearly visible. The deluxe version pictured here includes a pair of elegant, round, double-glazed windows, a pair of arch-backed Dolphin castings fitted to the oak knees, and a pair of electric wall lanterns to enhance its appearance and late evening usage. Other styles of round window can be seen on page “About Windows”. |

They all use the same pretty
roofs, with their gently curving skyline silhouette, capped with a finial
and traditional ball & spike ornament. The roofs have a rough surface, which will age gracefully and take moss and lichens with time. All roofs are fitted with decorative white soffits beneath the overhang and ceiling panels which rise internally following the roofline to leave light and airy room space below. |

The Gazebo roof with a pair of
solid walls provides a degree of seclusion from being overlooked together
with a degree of weather protection, the more valuable if the building can
be erected with its back to the prevailing wind or shielded by wind- resistant shrubs. For windier sites, we are sometimes asked for 3-wall variations and our next two pictures show the effect of fitting the large ‘bower’ window or the midsized ‘folly’ window in the side walls.. |
|
|
The fully enclosed
summerhouse version features double ‘bower’ doors which swing out to open
up one entire side. Because of the great weight of these 28mm thick
double-glazed doors, the doorway is braced with a welded and hot dip
galvanised steel frame. All summerhouse variations are now upgraded to have interior wall cladding of attractive TGV pine panelling and T&G floorboarding laid over hardwood bearers. Your choice is to have just the double ‘Bower’ doors as illustrated or to have side windows on one or both sides to best suit your specific needs. |

|
Utility studio-workroom version To meet the
need for a utility workroom situated in a visually sensitive site, we can
produce a version using the same exterior walling, windows and roof, but
with a much lower cost interior finish and usually incorporating a simple
low cost pine TGV door. |

Our line drawing illustrates the basic concept. A summerhouse one end provides total weather protection, while the Gazebo provides partial protection and the Arcadian link between gives dappled light when coupled with something like a Clematis or Wisteria. |
