About Us

Belleweather, which is a play on the English word bellwether and the French word belle or beautiful, was started in 1998 by Jonathan and Vine Spragg to exploit some entirely new design concepts for garden buildings which are now on the website.

Jonathan had previously worked for many years as a self-employed product designer and two of Jonathan’s designs were selected for the prestigious London Design Centre index of the best in British Design.

The products were eventually exported to over 25 countries and licenced for manufacture in others.  By 1998 more exciting potential was opening up in the garden buildings market and the decision was taken to start work on Belleweather full time.

In 2004, the Belleweather English Garden House series was selected by the judges for the shortlist of the English National Gardening Awards competition.  The design went on to be voted by the public as the winner of the Gold Award in its section.

Belleweather has initially focussed exclusively on the English domestic market but enquiries from overseas indicate a wider appeal for the Belleweather designs - so future plans are for schemes to manufacture and sell overseas as well.
